MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF BUNDORAN TOWN COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 4TH MAY, 2010 AT 2:00 P.M. IN THE CIVIC OFFICES, BUNDORAN.
Last year the Family Friendly initiative was developed and it aims to achieve awareness of the ever increasing demand of tourists with a family friendly atmosphere with emphasis on training in customer care and child friendly facilities. 30 members within Bundoran have taken part in training in customer care etc. Failte Ireland were also providing a free of charge web check for local businesses of all sizes from B & B providers to Hotels. To avail of this service Local businesses must register on-line and a mentor from Failte Ireland phones them back and arranges to meet them and help them develop this service. There has been a huge uptake in the SuperValu Breaks, but it identified that people were only willing to travel 1 ½ to 2 hours away, there was a challenge now to entice people from further away. This included the upcoming Donegal Live Event which would take place in Temple Bar, Dublin on the 16th May which Bundoran would be well represented in this event and if successful it was hoped that this would also take place in Glasgow and other cities.
